This Notice follows the Sacramento Superior Court’s Order re: Temporary Court Closure, issued March 19, 2020.

On April 7, 2020, the Sacramento County Health Officer issued a new public health order extending the stay-at-home order to May 1, 2020, subject to potential further extension. The Governor’s statewide stay-at-home order continues until further notice. In light of these facts, on April 16, 2020, I issued an Order re: Extension of Court Closure from April 17, 2020 to May 15, 2020 and Implementation of Renewed Emergency Relief (April 16th Order). This order extends the temporary court closure and continues to limit court operations to the essential functions listed in my prior orders from March 19, 2020 to present, which are posted on the court’s website.

The court’s prior temporary closure order, issued March 19, 2020 and all subsequent amendments are extended in full force and effect from April 17, 2020 to and including May 15, 2020. During the temporary closure, the court has serviced the enumerated emergency matters listed in the Temporary Closure Order and other orders that provide additional emergency relief.

While we will continue to increase court services incrementally, we remain focused on increasing services for only “essential” matters given the ongoing “stay-at-home” orders issued by the County Public Health Department and the Governor’s Office. As we move forward we will give due consideration to the increasing measures necessary to protect the health and safety of our community and court personnel, as well as the importance for all courts to ensure access to justice, protect due process, and provide a forum for the orderly resolution of disputes under law.
