FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE AND EFFECTIVE WEDNESDAY, May 6, 2020

NOTICE OF RESUMPTION OF CIVIL SERVICES – NEW CIVIL CASES

Effective, May 6, 2020, the Sacramento Superior Court will be increasing operations in its Civil Division by re-opening civil filings, including the filing of new cases, for matters handled at the Gordon D. Schaber Courthouse and in the Civil Law and Motion Departments. Court buildings remain closed to the general public due to the ongoing state and county stay-at-home orders. However, such civil filings may be submitted by mail (preferred) or by the drop box inside the Schaber Courthouse, 720 Ninth Street (8th Street entrance). The current building hours for drop box filings are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, excluding holidays.

All new civil cases filed will be placed in the “new filings” bin, located near the drop box inside the Schaber Courthouse. Although the building remains closed to the general public, the court will provide this access to the newly-filed civil cases at the designated location until further notice.
